The current Interlocal Agreement for Building Code Services (ILA) between the City and Broward County was entered into on September 23, 2008. The 2008 ILA was amended on September 29, 2011, December 14, 2011 and on June 26, 2012 and will expire on November 30, 2012. |

Description of Action |
|
On January 4, 2012, Request for Proposals (RFP) No. 12-004 was published, which solicited proposals from qualified firms or persons to provide the City with Building Department and Code Compliance Services. The proposals were reviewed and ranked by the staff selection committee. On March 27, 2012, staff recommended that the City Commission reject all bids and retain Broward County for Building Code Services. The recommendation passed with a 4-1 vote. Subsequently, on June 26, 2012, the ILA was extended through November 30, 2012 to coincide with the 2012 budget cycle year.
Since the previous amendment to the ILA, the Community Development Department has negotiated a new Interlocal Agreement with Broward County. The proposed Interlocal Agreement, attached, is now before the City Commission for their consideration. The proposed Interlocal agreement provides for Building Code Services by Broward County through September 30, 2014. |
